How to manage spam when using POP3 Print

  • 11

Due to limitations in the way POP3 downloads and synchronises emails with the server, some of the spam filtering articles found in the Raid Host knowledgebase cannot be applied to users of POP3.

Raid Host recommends all customers migrate from POP3 and instead use IMAP. If you have any questions about moving from POP3 to IMAP please contact our support team.

If you wish to continue using POP3, here are some effective solutions to reduce spam in your inbox.

  1. Server side auto deleting - follow this article to setup auto deletion

  2. Blacklist email addresses - most mail clients allow you to “mark as spam” or blacklist the sender.
This is a great feature as any future spam will be filtered out into your junk/spam folder or if configured to delete will move to the trash folder.

  3. Rules - Most mail clients allow you to configure rules on your computer to filter email into the spam or trash folders. An example we use often is - Any email with a subject = SEO - move to the deleted/trash folder. See the documentation of your mail client or contact our support team for advice on how to setup rules

If you require any assistance with reducing the amount of spam you receive into your inbox please contact our support team.
